These are some incredibly stable rails. The slight drops under load are
nothing to worry about.
As far as volume and cooling, there’s nothing special with this psu. I can’t
really comment on the temps in the psu but compared to the 400w that was in
my main rig before this one, the air coming out the back isn’t as warm as
the 400w. Noise wise, its about the same as any other psu, between 30 and
35dba. The clear fans are probably to blame. Clear plastic doesn’t have the
density black plastic does and they resonant differently, giving them a
louder, tinnier sound. If you were inclined to, a quick fan swap could fix
this problem since 30dba is pushing it for a quiet pc.
The End
Starting from the top, the X-Connect is a very sleek psu. The gloss
finish, which I ordered mine in blue but also comes in black, red, titanium
and a limited edition green, is mirror like. The sleeved cables with the
boots to cover the Molex connectors, give the X-Connect a completed look.
And take my word for it, in a clear case, this quickly becomes the center
piece of the case.
The
modular cables of the X-Connect work wonderfully at cutting down on case
clutter which also help the airflow. I was able to put my HDD and 9800pro on
one cable and both Lite-On drives and floppy on another. I could have put
the 4 80mm fans and UV lights on one more cable, leaving two open sockets on
the psu, but decided to put the UV lights on another cable. So, even with
four cables running to all the devices, the inside of the case still looks
clean and organized.
The X-Connect has no problem handling power needs right up there with psu’s
from Antec and Enermax at the same $129 retail price point.
If a fully modded out psu isn’t your bag, there are plenty of psu’s with
comparable specs without the glitter. But if your looking for a slick psu
without having to do it yourself, the X-Connect comes highly recommended and
should be a definite consideration. |
